Archer Canyon & Scott Point - 2012/03/04
Sunday March 4th we set off for Archer Canyon & the base of Archer Falls. We began our trip at the Smith-Cripe road end and continued on the old High Valley road past the old wall that marks the beginning of the trail up the West Rim. The old road continues on up into the canyon for some distance but gradually fades away to nothing. After that it's a bushwhack through the trees to the first tallus slopes & the first of countless stunning views. We counted a total of 18 ephemeral falls around the Rim of the canyon! There was just a dusting of snow left on the ground as we approached the base of the falls.

Rather than head back out the way we came we dicided to climb from the falls up the East wall to the Archer Mountain Road & then check out Scott Point again. Spectacular views from Scott Point & very different to the conditions the week before! Through the Camera Lens we could even make out the fencing around the view point at Sherrard Point. From Scott Point we took another connector trail to the Archer West Buttress trail that lead us down to the Archer Creek Crossing and back to High Valley were we could look back up to Scott Point.
