June 19th: On a very rainy & wet Friday afternoon Eric & I hiked the forbidden Perdition Trail closed in 1996 after the concrete stairways came sliding down in a winter storm.   • The worst part: Since it was raining so heavily we didn't take any photos until we reached the top of the old stairway (we didn't want to hang around in there in case something decided to move!) We scrambled up this gully, you can see the remains of the stairway below.

  • On the trail heading East, looking West. The standing dead trees are the remains of the 1991 Forest Fire that first closed the trail & burnt the first wooden staircase.

  • The old railroad tie stairs are still in pretty good shape under the wildflowers. Some of them still had anti slip rubber tread on them!
