2014 - February Snow & Ice
After the Big December Freeze we had hoped that the rest of our Winter was going to be benign & it looked like that was going to be the case until the Snow & Ice of February hit us! Our December freeze had lasted 10 consecutive nights with 5 consecutive days below freezing with our coldest temperatures in 25 to 30 years but the good thing was it had been a dry freeze no snow or ice to worry about.
Our February freeze wasn't as long or as cold with 8 consecutive nights & 4 consecutive days below freezing but it also came with 3 waves of snow over 48 hours followed then by a day of freezing rain for good measure! Compared to many places south of us like Salem & Eugene we got off very lightly, with a total snow accumulation of just over 6" followed by a quarter inch of ice. Some places were hit with 18" of snow & up to an inch of ice!
