Lava Beds National Monument
Leaving Crater Lake we headed for Lava Beds National Monument but our first stop was for breakfast at the Klamath Grill in downtown Klamath. From here we headed South into California past Tule Lake to Lava Beds NM, for the remainder of the morning we checked out Black Crater & hiked up the 5300' Schonchin Butte. In the afternoon we borrowed a couple of lamps from the Visitor center & explored some of the countless lava tubes in the area, we had time to check out Golden Dome, Sunshine, Sentinel & Big Painted Cave. Since our tent was still wet from Crater Lake & the weather looked like more rain we decided to leave the park about 5:00pm & begin our journey towards Lassen National Park. We ended up renting a Motel room in the lovely little town of Adin. The following morning after stocking up at the Adin Supply Co. we continued on our way to Lassen National Park.
