Las Vegas, Day I 2023/04/23: The alarm went off at 2:00am. We were at the PDX Airport by 4:00, in the air by 5:30. In Vegas by 7:15 and sitting down to the Brunch Buffet at the Wynn by 8:30am. After our allotted 90 minutes and totally stuffed we waddled down the Strip to the Flamingo were we were lucky enough to be able to get an early check in! The Flamingo is one of the oldest Hotels on the Strip, it's also one of the most affordable and well situated right in the center of everything! For our first afternoon we explored the area closest to the Hotel, In particular the Linq, the Bellagio, Paris, The Venetian, Caesars Palace and the adjoining Forum Shops. That evening we pretty much walked around the same area again taking in the lights and also took a ride on the High Roller Ferris Wheel. When the wheel opened in 2014 it was the world's largest at 550’ (The London Eye is 443’). It’s now the second largest after the opening of the Dubai Eye (820’) in 2021.
